Just finished watching a few lifts from the women’s 69kg category at the IWF World Championships hosted in Houston, TX.
**Which by the way, if you guys have down time over the next few days you should be sure and check it out. Click here for the link.**
It’s amazing what the human body can do when everything is moving freely without visible signs of tightness or lack of mobility. All of the people competing hit full depth in their squat and have great mobility overhead (well enough to lock out solid reps… some with over 300lbs over their head)!
A lot of hard work and dedication is poured into each and every lift that is seen on the platform in Houston. We as crossfitters have all been exposed to both Olympic lifts. We have also all had our frustrations learning the Olympic moves of Snatch and Clean and Jerk. Once we have the movements down though, strength becomes the next frustration.
Taking a few steps back, prior to dialing in technique and gaining strength, can be working on overcoming mobility walls that hinder your body from developing good technique with the barbell. Nothing can be more frustrating than not doing a movement due to injury or tight muscles.
If your body moves well, full range of motion through each joint, not only do you have the fun of performing advanced movements, but you have the amazing feeling of no pain.
DO YOUR MOBILITY! IT EQUALS GAINS AND OPPURTUNITES LIKE COMPETING AT WORLDS! AT LEAST IT TAKES THE MOBILITY HINDERANCE AWAY :) !
Learn key moves to help you, and reap the rewards, hit PRs! As always feel free to email me with questions! I am here to help you guys be the strongest, most mobile that you can be!
